Light Abyss

Adapted from Priest's novel "Silent Reading". The story takes place in "Year 253 of the New Era Civilization", when society begins to link the ever-rising crime rate with a special group of people known as "zero-empathy individuals". An ordinary case of a murdered delivery worker leads Luo Weizhao, an agent of the Special Investigation Unit, to discover that the case is far more complicated than it appears. As the investigation deepens, cases of missing persons, a tycoon's car crash, and the murder of a university student occur one after another. They seem independent of each other, yet all are connected to the "zero-empathy individuals" and to a force hidden in the shadows. Meanwhile, Pei Su—a man with a mysterious background and a calm disposition—enters the investigators' view, and his own past gradually becomes entangled with these cases. Through one manhunt after another, Luo Weizhao and Pei Su draw ever closer to the truth behind the scenes, and from their initial testing and wariness, they gradually form a special trust and rapport.
