The story is set in Korea during the Joseon dynasty. Han Seo-jin, a cold and aloof young nobleman, has shut himself away for years in mourning for his mother. One day, Do-ha, a young commoner tailor, comes to his home to take his measurements and make him clothes, and the two meet. With the “needle” as matchmaker and “fragrance” as guide, through measuring, tailoring, and blending scents, they move from tentative testing to complete surrender, unfolding a delicate affection that crosses class boundaries.
