Only One Umbrella: Trapped in the Rain with You

Elias Vance has spent years designing spaces that keep the world at a distance — clean lines, controlled light, no surprises. As an architect, every room he drafts is a fortress of solitude. Sharing his apartment with Leo Kastellanos, a walking burst of sunshine who sings to the kettle and leaves sticky notes that say "you looked tired, made you tea," already feels like a structural failure waiting to happen. When a grid-locking storm floods the city and traps them alone in their tiny flat, Elias is not worried about the rising water. He is worried about the single umbrella they share on a desperate supply run, the way Leo's soaked shirt clings to his chest, and the fact that their power cuts out, leaving only candlelight and one narrow bed to wait out the blackout. Elias has blueprinted every inch of his life to avoid exactly this: one umbrella between them, cheeks brushing under the rain, and the terrifying realization that Leo's relentless cheerfulness is not noise to mute — it is the only warmth he has never planned for. As the storm rages through the night, pressed together under a thin blanket, the true collapse is not the weather. It is the moment Leo stops smiling, holds Elias tighter, and whispers that he has been hiding too.
