When a catastrophic systems failure forces the evacuation of the deep-space vessel Kuroshio, Captain Daisuke Mori ejects in an escape pod with Lieutenant Soren Voss — the brilliant flight engineer he grounded six months before launch for a breach of trust that ended in a covered-up fatality. With only one functional cryo-bay, a leaking CO₂ scrubber, and a navigation array stuck broadcasting a distress frequency no one is answering, the pod becomes a locked-room interrogation of everything they did to each other. Every ration packet they split, every recalibration of the failing thermal control loop, drags them back to the sealed hearing, the accusations, and the almost-kiss in a maintenance corridor that Soren weaponised and Daisuke buried under protocol. Commander Althea Reyes transmits rescue updates from Deimos Station that grow grimmer with each transmission. Starvation and hypoxia strip away rank in the dark, until survival depends on Soren’s unwillingness to let Daisuke die before he has been made to feel the full weight of what he destroyed.
